Built during the Qing Dynasty, Yanxianglou is a circular earthen building nestled in the serene Nanxi valley. Its name, “Yanxiang,” symbolizes the wish for the family’s fragrance (fame and virtue) to be passed down through generations. The “Honest Man” Legend
The building is often called Fengzhi Dafu because a prominent ancestor was recognized by the Imperial Court as a “Qing Guan” (Honest Official). This reputation is reflected in the building’s dignified interior, a highlight of any Tulou highlight tour.
