The amazing Karsts landform in Guanzhai Mountain of Liancheng in Fujian

Danxia landforms, a unique type of petrographic geomorphology, are widely distributed in Southeast China including Guangdong, Fujian, and Jiangxi. In Fujian, there are three main scenic spots gifted with Karsts or Danxia landforms: Wuyi Mountain, Dajin Lake Scenic Spot of Taining, and Guanzhai Mountain Senic Spot of Liancheng. Every year, thousands of visitors travel to appreciate the beauty of Danxia landform.

Guanzhai Mountain, located in Liancheng County, Longyan, is about 270 kilometres from Xiamen. With an area of 123 square kilometres, Guanzhi Mountain is one of the top ten scenic spots in Fujian.

When travelling to Guanzhai Mountain scenic spot, you can not only appreciate the spectacular mountain and strange rocks and stones, but also relax by boating on the clean and calm Shimen Lake.

The so called Guanzhai Mountain is because the shape of the mountain is like an official's hat in the ancient times when looked from afar. It is considered as the Holy Mountain of Hakka. The whole scenic spot is composed by 9 parts. As a scenic spot of Danxia landform, Guanzhi Mountain is rich in various strange stones and rocks. Some are like cars, some are like monkeys, etc.

Among all the rocks, the most famous and interesting one is a pair of rocks called Shengming Zhigen and Shengming Zhimen. The shapes of these two rocks are just like the genitals of male's and female's, and the name of the rock means the beginning of the life.

When climbing up to the highest point of the mountain, you begin to reach down the road until you get to Shimen Lake. Boating on Shimen Lake can be a good experience. The banks are covered with thick woods and the water of the lake is clean. The lake is more than 20 metres deep and the International Cliff Diving Competition has been held here.
